Epidemiology of occupational diseases in Romania and Israel: silicosis as a national concern

Abstract Background: Historically, silicosis is a disease of miners, but the last decade witnessed outbreaks in occupational settings not traditionally associated with silica exposure. Evidence from other countries may ground awareness and control re-emergent risks. Methods: Incident cases diseases, ranking trends were analysed within period 2005-2016 using cross-national comparative study. Labor force profile occupation additional data used to identify similarities differences between Romania Israel. The incidence rates for extracted Global Burden Disease Study 2017 compared national, continental, global level. Results: Between two countries, ratio was 1:1 silicosis, musculoscheletal disorders, hearing loss, chronic bronchitis.
